A Chinese bronze Hu vase, late Ming dynasty (1368-1644).
The pear-shaped body rising from a tall splayed foot into a waisted neck with flaring mouth flanked by two loop handles with carved low relief leiwen pattern springing from the mouths of two mythical creatures, the neck bordered with a raised triple-rib band, the exterior patinated to an attractive variegated brown colour.
