Qing dynasty, 18th century.
The smooth stone of greenish hue carved as a seated figure of the Goddess of Mercy clad in a long flowing robe incised with clouds, with serene expression and almond eyes beneath a high chignon topped with an embroidered veil, the right knee raised to support a boy holding a flowering branch, his left foot outstretched to rest in the deity’s right hand, the wooden stand carved as a cluster of clouds, the figure with traces of gilding and coloured pigments remaining.
