A large Japanese porcelain Imari bowl.
Japan, early 18th century, Edo period (1603-1868).

The large deep bowl on a high foot with a flared rim, painted in underglaze blue and overglaze iron-red and gilt enamels, decorated to the exterior with six ogee-shaped panels containing a floral scene with butterflies, the inside with a floral spray within a double circle.

Provenance:
Collection van de Wint, Franeker and thence by descent.

Dimensions:
Diameter 28.7 cm, height 13 cm.

Condition:
Very good condition with some surface glaze scratching to the inside of the bowl.
