A 4-piece set of Dutch colonial Art Deco living room furniture.
Dutch East Indies, c. 1920/1930.
A beautiful mix of history and craftsmanship, consisting of a sofa, two armchairs and a table in Indonesian Art Deco style.
The sofa is made of teakwood with the original wicker wickerwork in which beautiful patterns have been applied. On both sides left and right there is a door with storage options behind it. The deep brown color of the wood contrasts nicely with the blackened elements and the lighter wicker.
Both armchairs (in the former Dutch East Indies also called “Krossi males” or “lazy chair” in the Indo-European language called Petjoh) also have a wicker seat and back. In addition, they have stylized armrests and stair-step legs. Just like the sofa, the armchairs are assembled with wooden mortise and tenon joints and blackened elements.
